The 20th Century was a bad time for faith and religion. Religious practice in the West faced collapse and the pull of modernity was irresistible, leaving churches empty. Despite secularism and the desire to assimilate, Judaism not only survived but actually flourished. This course will look at five of the key figures who plotted the survival of Judaism and the Jewish people in Europe and America.
