Binding Isaac: Blind Obedience vs. Thoughtful Choice

Hosted By: Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

The Binding of Isaac is one of the most famous and controversial stories in the Torah. As parents, children, and human beings, this story is at times both harrowing and confusing, often leaving us with more questions than answers. Did the binding of Isaac begin with a command or with a request? Why did Abraham not protest when he had just protested the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? In this special, two-part course we will use the biblical texts as our foundation and explore the varied commentaries that speak to this challenging moment.

Join skilled Melton educator, Rabbi Michele Faudem, in this thought-provoking exploration of one of our toughest tales.
