Between Empires and Identities: The Jewish Story of Trieste

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher presents a program on the Jewish history of Trieste, a culturally rich city on the Slovenian-Italian border with roots dating back to the 14th century. The session will trace Jewish life from its beginnings in finance through periods of cultural flourishing, exploring both Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. Participants will visit the Jewish Quarter and Synagogue, examine the Holocaust’s impact, and learn how Trieste’s Jewish heritage continues to endure.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
