A Journey Through the Jewish Heritage of Hungary

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher presents a virtual journey through present-day Hungary, exploring the rich Jewish heritage still present in many villages and cities through synagogues, cemeteries, and museums. The tour encounters remains from the Roman period through the Middle Ages, traces remnants of the Ottoman era, and witnesses the growth of the Ashkenazi community under the Habsburg Empire. The session also explores what has survived outside Budapest in the aftermath of the Holocaust and the fall of Communism.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
