Shula Mozes
Born in Romania, Shula made Alyiah at age 13, and graduated from the Boyar Boarding School in Jerusalem and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Hebrew University. Today, Shula Chairs the Mozes–Wolfowitz Foundation, which she founded together with her husband, Zeevie, over 17 years ago. The Foundation is a multi-faceted, family philanthropic fund that invests in values-based education, pluralism, Jewish renewal and young adults without family support. In 2001 Shula founded “Lamerhav”, with the vision of promoting social change through intensive and multi-dimensional intervention in the lives of young adults in Israel who lack family support. Since then, the Foundation has funded the program and Shula is personally involved and Chair of the Board. Shula also chairs the “Working Together Initiative”, a partnership between the Israeli Government, Philanthropists and NGO’s and the business sector. It aims at developing quality long-term employment opportunities for young adults in the Negev. Shula represents philanthropists on the Israeli Government's “Yated” initiative for improving services to young adults. She is a recipient of the MIDOT Effectiveness Award for effective Philanthropy and the President’s Award for Volunteering. Shula is a member of the Israeli giving circle, “Committed to Give”. In 2014 Shula launched the “iota project”, a social business striving to design beautiful handmade furniture while creating jobs for otherwise unemployed people. iota received high acclaim at the MAISON&OBJET exhibitions in Paris, and at the Design Week in Milan. Shula is a mother of four and grandmother of eleven.
