The Jewish Study Center will examine the Jewish migration to Vienna before World War I and the development of one of Europe’s largest Jewish communities. The discussion will explore their assimilation into Austro-German culture while maintaining strong Jewish identities through religious institutions, Zionism, and ethnic solidarity. The class will also assess Leopoldstadt to consider how the play reflects—or distorts—historical reality.
