Israel Day Parade With The Chai Riders

A couple of weeks ago, I went to my first ever Salute to Israel Parade in New York City. Besides maybe high holiday services at my synagogue, this might just be the largest gathering of Jews in one place in the world. Seriously, for those of you who don’t live in New York, trust me when I say that it is impressive for the Jewish community to be able to shut down 5th Ave. so they can have their parade.

This year, MyJewishLearning wanted to follow around the most unique group to participate in the parade, the New York City Chai Riders Motorcycle Club. Maybe we were being close-minded, but it seemed crazy to us that there was a Jewish motorcycle club. But after spending the day with them, I can tell you, these guys (and girls) are legitimate motorcyclists and even more legitimate Jews. The way they balance their love for bikes and the love for their community and the State of Israel is pretty impressive.

Watch our new video. Maybe you will be inspired to buy a bike of your own.
