Y-Love Finally Becomes a Brand

Some people wonder about the politics of the Orthodox rapper Y-Love, who lists “radically left” as his political stance on Facebook but supports some things that most of the rest of the world would classify as “way right,” partly as a result of politics stemming from his traditional belief structure, partly as the way he sees the world. And don’t even get him started on Zionism.

I have to say, though, that his split of radical left/radical right politics probably comes the closest to what I agree with. Maybe because we’re both just socially conservative, politically liberal dudes who like to shout a lot and think Obama quotes Scripture well. Or maybe it’s solely by virtue of no one else agreeing with either of us.

In any case — all I can say is, I’m glad he’s taking a stand toward establishing political change in Orthodox Judaism. Even if that something is how shoes should be made kosher for Passover.
