I’ve just started a chevruta with my friend Rachel. We’re learning Samuel, and we’ve decided to meet every week before the trivia night we like at a local bar. It seemed convenient and easy to just meet for chevruta in the same bar about an hour and a half before the quiz started. So, last night, at about 6:45, we sipped our beers while diving into the text. Maybe it’s just me, but I get quite a kick out of reading and discussing the words, “How long will you make a drunken spectacle of yourself? Sober Up!” (Samuel I 1:14) while sitting in a bar.
Anyway, all this just goes to show that you can and should bring a little learning into your life wherever it’s convenient. You can even integrate it into your drinking problem!
