Fatty Sundays

This chocolate-covered pretzel company was established back in 2012 by Long Island natives (and sisters) Ali and Lauren. The women came up with the idea after years of baking with their mom, Karen, who was famous for her rainbow sprinkle-covered chocolate pretzels.

Today, Fatty Sundays ships nationwide, and all of their products are handmade in Brooklyn. Best sellers include the peppermint pretzel bark, DIY pretzel sets, and toffee-covered pretzels. Shop Fatty Sunday’s complete collection here. Enjoy free shipping on orders $75+.

Baked by Melissa

In 2008, Melissa Ben-Ishay was fired from her media job. During this time, she felt inspired to pursue her true passion: baking. Fast forward one year, and Baked by Melissa was born. Since then, Melissa and her team have been baking up adorable bite-sized cupcakes that are (almost) too cute to eat. Choose from ‘gram-worthy flavors like tie-dye, cotton candy, cookie dough, and an array of seasonal specialties and subscription boxes

The company offers nationwide shipping. Customers can choose from kosher, nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan options. Order your cupcakes here.

Jars by Dani

Dani Beckerman makes handcrafted dessert jars in the Big Apple. Her mission? To create desserts that are just as delicious as they are beautiful. Customers can choose from an assortment of gift sets, packages, and sizes — plus over a dozen drool-worthy flavors that are sure to delight (think lemon bar, fudge brownie, cookie dough, and Italian rainbow cake). Vegan, gluten-free, and seasonal flavors are also available. Jars by Dani ship nationwide, and you can place your order here.

Russ & Daughters

Founded by Joel Russ in 1914, this family-owned-and-operated establishment has since become an NYC staple. Today, the appetizing shop is run by fourth-generation owners, Josh Russ Tupper and Niki Russ Federman.

While the eatery is best known for its bagels, bialys, and smoked fish, you won’t want to sleep on the delicious desserts. Russ & Daughters’ signature flaky babka features two kinds of indulgent chocolate, plus a touch of coffee for added richness. The black and white cookies, which feature hints of lemon and almond, are also a must-try. (Don’t stop at just one, either.) Order for nationwide shipping via Goldbelly here.

Mini Melanie

Mini Melanie was founded in 2015 by two sisters — Melanie Moss, a pastry chef who previously worked in Michelin-starred kitchens, and Diana Moss, an entrepreneur with a background in law. This Brooklyn-based bakery’s cake truffles, with flavors ranging from cinnamon bun to s’mores, live up to the hype, but don’t sleep on their other baked goods, including cake pops, cookies and layer cakes. When COVID-19 hit, the sisters introduced DIY cookie decorating kits (available gluten-free and vegan). Mini Melanie ship nationwide; order on their website.
