Yes, yes, the High Holidays are months away, but here at The Nosher, we start thinking about Rosh Hashanah as soon as we’ve wiped the final matzah crumbs off our kitchen countertops. And this year, our early planning means you’re in for a treat.
After the whirlwind success of “The Nosher’s Passover Community Cookbook,” filled with our readers’ favorite recipes (including 10 varieties of haroset!), we’re cooking up another cookbook — and we need your help!
We’re asking you, our vibrant online community, to delve into your High Holidays recipe boxes and dig out your beloved recipes, the ones you go back to year after year, to be featured in The Nosher’s High Holiday Community Cookbook. Maybe it’s a symbolic Rosh Hashanah dish, a go-to break fast bite or a hearty stuffed vegetable to keep you warm in the sukkah.
And while we love brisket, tzimmes and honey cake as much as you do, we want this cookbook to showcase the diversity of Jewish cuisine. From classic Ashkenazi, Sephardic and Mizrahi recipes to store-bought shortcuts; dishes that celebrate your unique Jewish identity to happy kitchen accidents, we’re looking for as much delicious variety as possible.

In keeping with the long-standing American tradition of community cookbooks, you do not need to be a “cook,” a “chef” or even a “balabusta” to contribute. There’s room at our table for everyone.
If you’d like to see your beloved High Holiday recipe featured, all you have to do is fill out this short form by Friday, June 13. We’d like to know the name of your recipe, the recipe itself (please include measurements where you can!), and a little bit about why it’s so special to you — perhaps you have a specific memory of eating it or of the person who made it for you with love. We’ll follow up with you if your recipe is selected.
Then, we promise, you can shove that recipe box to the very back of your cupboard and return to pretending that Rosh Hashanah is eons away, safe in the knowledge that this new year will be extra sweet.
