YIVO Yiddish Club: Yiddish Duolingo and Learning Yiddish Today

Nu, vilst redn a bisele yidish? A monthly event for Yiddish enthusiasts the world over, the YIVO Yiddish club is an informal monthly gathering to celebrate mame-loshn hosted by Shane Baker. Sessions take place in English, though they are liberally peppered with Yiddish. Attendees need not know any Yiddish to attend, though some familiarity with the language is highly recommended.
This month’s session features Yiddish Duolingo creators Meena-Lifshe Viswanath and Isac Polasak, and YIVO’s Summer Program Academic Director, Dovid Braun, for a discussion about methods and resources for learning Yiddish today, and decisions about dialects and other pedagogical questions that arise when teaching and learning Yiddish.
