With Dignity and Compassion: Jewish Wisdom for the End of Life
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education, in partnership with the Jewish Association for Death Education, presents a three-part course exploring Jewish end-of-life practices through close reading of classical texts and liturgy. The series includes Session 1 on the core values and historical development of Jewish end-of-life traditions, including the role of the Chevrah Kadisha; Session 2 on the prayers recited during taharah, the ritual preparation of the body; and Session 3 on foundational rabbinic teachings about burial and mourning in Moed Katan. The course is sponsored by the Poretzky family.
