SUMMARY:Sacred Privacy in the Age of AI: A Jewish Ethical Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Keeping It Sacred presents a class exploring how enduring Jewish wisdom can help navigate the ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence\, from privacy and trust to human dignity. The session considers what meaningful consent looks like when we don’t fully understand what we’re agreeing to\, how to preserve truth in an age of deepfakes\, and what responsibilities clergy and congregations have to safeguard personal information. No technical background is needed\, only a willingness to explore how Jewish ethics can help us use technology in ways that deepen\, rather than diminish\, our humanity.

SUMMARY:Qesher Book Club: 'All Afternoon'
DESCRIPTION:Qesher presents a conversation with author Susan Kleinman on her novel “All Afternoon\,” the story of Marilyn Weisfeld\, a once-promising writer in a tight-knit 1978 Jewish community who abandoned her literary dreams for marriage and motherhood twenty years earlier. Marilyn finds herself torn between the comfort of tradition and the thrill of new possibilities when a bestselling author friend of her husband’s urges her to start writing again. Drawing on childhood recollections and historical research\, Kleinman recreates the suburban-Ashkenazi Modern Orthodox Judaism of the 1970s\, a moment when Eastern European immigrant lifestyles gave way to the culture of their American-born children and roles and expectations for women were evolving.

SUMMARY:Mordecai Kaplan's Reconstructionist Vision: What Panned Out? What Fell Short?
DESCRIPTION:The Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies presents a session with Rabbi Dr. Bradley Shavit Artson\, American Jewish University Goldstine Distinguished Scholar\, on Mordecai Kaplan’s 1934 work “Judaism as a Civilization\,” a comprehensive analysis of what ailed American Jewish life and a set of prescriptions to fix it. The session examines how Kaplan’s bold proposals created a generational agenda for change across faith\, ritual\, philosophy\, language\, peoplehood\, and ethics\, and how he succeeded in transforming American Jewish life forever. It also considers how his insights missed important emotional\, religious\, and social realities that limited the spread of his ideas.
