Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was a prominent German philosopher and author during the Enlightenment. Lessing was a close friend of the Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelsohn Text: ‘The Parable of the Rings’ in Nathan, the Wise, a play by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, 1779.
