Wait! That’s Not in the Bible? Insights and Ideas: Tuesday Night Learning With Gideon Amir
Hosted By: Haberman Institute
The Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies examines familiar biblical stories that many assume come directly from the text, such as Abraham breaking the idols or the reason for eating matzah, and shows how these traditions actually developed through later interpretation. The course explores passages that seem clear at first glance but reveal different meanings on closer reading, along with texts that are intentionally ambiguous. Participants will consider how Midrash opens multiple paths of understanding and reshapes how the Bible has been read across generations.
