Vladka Meed’s ‘On Both Sides of the Wall’
Hosted By: YIVO
Vladka Meed, born Feigele Peltel, was a young resistance fighter who used her “Aryan” appearance and fluency in Polish to work as a courier for the Jewish Fighting Organization, smuggling weapons, rescuing children, aiding Jews in hiding, and maintaining contact with partisans. A newly revised translation of her 1948 Yiddish memoir preserves her testimony for a new generation, edited by her son, Steven D. Meed. YIVO presents a discussion with him about this translation.
