Virtual tour of Jewish Bessarabia: Today’s Moldova and its Capital — Kishinev

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher presents a program exploring Jewish life in Moldova, historically known as Bessarabia, where Jews have lived since the 16th century. The tour visits former Jewish towns and the city of Kishinev, once home to more than 50,000 Jews and a vibrant center of Jewish culture and leadership. Participants will learn about the city’s synagogues, daily life, and the past, present, and future of Kishinev’s Jewish community.

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
