Virtual Tour of Buenos Aires: Part 2

Hosted By: Baltimore Zionist District

Join the Baltimore Zionist District in this 2-part series virtual tour of Jewish Buenos Aires with the tour guide, Rabbi Ernesto Yattah! Enjoy the beautiful sites this city has to offer and learn about its rich Jewish history!

January 5th, 2021 @ 11:00 AM (EST): This first part of the Virtual Tour of Jewish Buenos Aires will introduce us to the Argentinian Jewish community. We will take a close look at the two terrorist attacks against the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 and the Jewish Federation of Buenos Aires (AMIA) in 1994. We will conclude with a visit to a moving Memorial in honor of the victims of the Shoah and of the two terrorist attacks inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires and talk about the close personal friendships of Argentinian Pope Francis with Rabbi Ernesto.

February 9th, 2021 @ 11:00 AM (EST): The second part of the Virtual Tour of Jewish Buenos Aires will explore the political, economic, and cultural background that allowed the Nazis to come to Argentina after the Second World War. We will also study the last military dictatorship, which killed 30,000 young people, 20% of whom were Jewish.
