Vienna: A City of Two Tales
Hosted By: The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University
Siegal Lifelong Learning presents a class on Vienna at the turn of the twentieth century, when rising antisemitism produced sharply different responses to the so-called “Jewish problem.” The session examines how Theodor Herzl’s vision of Zionism and Adolf Hitler’s genocidal ideology both emerged from this turbulent setting. It also reflects on what this stark divide can teach about the challenges facing Jewish life today.
