Case Western Reserve University’s Siegal Lifelong Learning presents a session on Noah Greenberg, director of the New York Pro Musica, a leading early music ensemble of the 1950s and 60s that brought historically informed performances of 13th- to 17th-century music to wider audiences than it had ever known. Born in Poland, raised in the Jewish communities of the Bronx, and intellectually formed in socialist and Trotskyist circles of 1930s and 1940s New York, Greenberg viewed early music not as old-fashioned or religious but as progressive. The talk explores his life, musical projects, and recordings.
