The Israeli Film Industry, Rising and Animated
Hosted By: The America Israel Friendship League (AIFL)

Israel is often referred to as the Startup Nation, but with the support of The Jerusalem Film and Television Fund, Jerusalem is also Ani-Nation. Jerusalem’s development as a hub of animation has enhanced the city’s international appeal as a film location and received the nod of many international animation industry leaders, including Disney. Who would have thought that one of the holiest places on earth would also be one of the most creative?
The animation industry in Israel has grown in the last decade, combining that special sense of Israeli technological know-how with genuine creativity and love for the arts. Today, the animation industry in Israel, specifically Jerusalem offers a range of highly professional and well-equipped animation studios, which excel at international film festivals.
One example is the newly celebrated animated blockbuster directed and written by Gidi Dar– Legend of Destruction which tells the story of the Jewish revolt and the destruction of the Second Temple.
During this session, we will:
Watch a clip from Legend of Destruction and discuss its unique developmental history.
Hear from the talented composers who help these bring films to life shaping the audiences’ emotional responses, while creating the rhythm for an action scene; Learn about the organizational ties that bring stories of the Israeli film industry to the fore through education of American film students and content producers and music composers.
Join us for a riveting conversation with backStorygroup Director Wendy Revel; Jerusalem Film and Television Fund Director Yoram Honig, Gidi Dar, writer and director of Legend of Destruction, composer Yonatan Albalek, co-composer of the score and our other notable panelists on the development of the animation film industry in Israel.
