The Golden Girls of the Old Testament

Hosted By: The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University

Siegal Lifelong Learning, CWRU, presents a course examining the women of the Old Testament through paintings and sculpture. Beginning with Eve and Lilith, the program explores figures such as Judith, Rahab, Sarah, Rachel, Athaliah and Bithia, considering how they have been portrayed as heroines, seductresses and complex historical actors. Through five centuries of art, the course reexamines their stories and the ways visual culture has shaped their legacy.
