The Future of Abortion Access in the US and Its Impact On the Jewish Community

Hosted By: Anshe Emet Synagogue (Chicago)

The United States is presently engaged in a serious conversation about access to abortion. A number of States, Texas most notably, are challenging the status quo in regards to women’s reproductive rights. The US Supreme Court is currently hearing arguments that may overturn Roe v. Wade. What impact will these changes have on individuals and American society as a whole? In addition, we should also ask what Jewish tradition has to say about this issue, and how Jewish law might be affected by the proposed changes in abortion law. Lorie Chaiten serves as Senior Staff Attorney for the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project and one of the most important legal voices in the US. Lorie is presently on the legal team arguing the case in Texas. Join Anshe Emet Synagogue as Lori and Rabbi Siegel engage in an important and timely discussion on one of the most relevant issues of our time.
