Talmud: Cracks in Authority through Four Talmudic Lives

Hosted By: Pardes

The Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies presents a four-part series examining four Talmudic figures who expose different cracks in authority: Elazar ben Azariah, the Imposter who feels unqualified; Rabbi Akiva, the Outsider who never fully believes he belongs; Imma Shalom, the Insider who refuses to look away; and Rabba bar bar Hana, the Storyteller who turns to myth when law falters. The Gemara preserves these figures as warnings, experiments, and provocations. The series asks what happens to Torah when certainty breaks down.
