Standing Idly By: The Cost of Silence and the Courage to Act
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education presents a session examining what we owe one another in moments of crisis and how bystander inaction during the Holocaust deepened the tragedy. Drawing on survivor testimony and research on atrocity and transitional justice, the program considers how fear, mistrust, and polarization shape moral choices today. Participants will explore why people fail to act, what moral courage looks like, and how communities can be built on responsibility rather than silence.
