SUMMARY:Freud in the Talmud
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the Unconscious in Ancient Jewish Text\nwith Ruby Namdar \nThursdays at 6:00 p.m. ET\nApril 23 – May 14 \nAll classes will be recorded and sent to registrants. \nDid Sigmund Freud ever study the Talmud? Perhaps\, and perhaps not. \n \nHowever\, his radical and highly imaginative thinking is most certainly echoed in this wild and daring ancient Jewish text.\nIn this class with master novelist and teacher Ruby Namdar\, you will read and analyze Talmudic and Biblical tales that lend themselves to Freudian interpretation — including the hidden meaning of dreams\, the intimidating presence of “The Uncanny” and the desire to overthrow the overbearing yoke of the SuperEgo.\nNo previous knowledge of Hebrew\, Aramaic\, Talmud or Freudian theory is required. \nDon’t miss this unique lens on the Talmud not offered anywhere else!
