Spiritual and Coming out of the Closet – Shavuot Tikkun Leil Teaching
Hosted By: Romemu (Manhattan)

There are all kinds of obstacles to truly claiming a religious and spiritual life. Many spiritual seekers have grown up in families where, for whatever reasons, religion and spirituality were seen as threatening or unwelcome and these seekers grow up without a spirtual legacy. Oftentimes those dynamics continue into adulthood in some form. In this session with Rabbi Dianne Cohler-Esses, we will study the Talmudic story of the great romance between Rabbi Akiva and Rachel in which Rachel helps Rabbi Akiva, an illiterate 40 year old shepherd, discover, despite the active disapproval of her father, how to become a great teacher of Torah.
