An extraordinary story of love\, origins\, and self-discovery based on Sussman’s life story as told in his Harper’s Magazine essay\, “The Silent Type: On (Possibly) Being Bob Dylan’s Son\,” Boy From the North Country is one of the most tender mother-son love stories of our time. This majestic novel is a love letter from a son to his mother\, a stunningly rare view into the creative life of Bob Dylan\, a tribute to the humanistic power of the Jewish literary tradition\, and a universal story about trying to understand the complexities of our parents’ lives. Join us to hear Sam speak about his stunning debut novel.\n \nSam Sussman grew up in the Hudson Valley. He earned a B.A. from Swarthmore and an M.Phil from Oxford and has lived in Berlin and Jerusalem. Sam has won the BAFTA New Writing Award\, participated in the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature\, and been a Fellow at LABA: The Laboratory for Jewish Culture at the 14th Street Y. He lives in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan and his native Hudson Valley.\n\nMenachem Kaiser lives in Brooklyn. His memoir Plunder was named a New York Times Critics top book of the year\, and was the recipient of the 2022 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.
