Sacred Time: Spending Shabbat with Abraham Joshua Heschel
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education presents a class exploring Abraham Joshua Heschel’s classic work, “The Sabbath.” Through guided discussion and selected readings, participants will reflect on Heschel’s poetic vision of Shabbat as sacred time — “a cathedral in time” — and a spiritual response to the pressures of modern life. This course offers an opportunity to move beyond observing Shabbat to truly experiencing it as refuge, presence, and renewal.
