Qesher Book Club: Stumbling Blocks

Hosted By: Qesher

The Qesher Book Club presents a discussion of “Stumbling Blocks,” a second-generation Holocaust memoir that interweaves the stories of Jennifer and her father, Paul, who was born in Germany in 1928 and sent to Belgium with his sisters after Kristallnacht. The book follows the family’s flight in 1941 and Jennifer’s later struggle to understand the fragments of untold history that shaped her childhood in the 1950s. Through her search for truth and meaning, the memoir explores the enduring legacy of the Holocaust across generations.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
