Picturing the Unseen: An Artist Talk with Stacy Arezou Mehrfar

Hosted By: Kveller

We’re delighted to bring Stacy Arezou Mehrfar, a New York-based visual artist whose photographs, video installations and photo books explore land, migration and perception to our virtual stage. In this online event, Mehrfar will share the experiences and investigations that shape her practice, from growing up between Farsi and English in an Iranian immigrant household, to emigrating to Australia where her native English felt foreign, to developing a visual language rooted in metaphor and mysticism. Drawing from the traditions she carries, Mehrfar will discuss the outsider’s eye, photography as a medium for exploring the unseen, and the ways images can hold memory and connection across generations and borders.

Following her lecture, Stacy will be joined by Lisa Keys, Special Projects Editor at 70 Faces Media as together they discuss her presentation and take audience questions.

This interactive event is the premiere of our Jewish Artists Spotlight, a conversation series designed to introduce you to Jewish artists who work in a variety of media in New York, Israel and elsewhere. The project combines live, online events with a series of written profiles that explore the experiences of being a working Jewish artist today. Brought to you by Kveller, with the support of UJA-Federation of New York.

Kveller is here to give you ideas you can run with–ideas for first-time parents, interfaith parents, queer parents, adoptive parents, and everything in between–with the hopes that you can find information and inspiration that is right for your family.
