Passport to Hanukkah! Around the World, Bite by Bite

Hosted By: Qesher

Food enjoyed in Jewish homes around the world reflects wave after wave of expulsion and community recreation; starting over again and again, bringing previous traditions while adapting to new climates and adopting new ingredients and cooking methods. In this talk we will discuss different Hanukkah food traditions through the diaspora – how they travel, how they define us, and how their variety among the different communities help us celebrate light and freedom.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
