On the Map: An Advance Viewing & Conversation with Filmmaker Dani Menkin
Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")
The Community Scholar Program hosts a conversation with filmmaker Dani Menkin, director of “On the Map,” the acclaimed documentary about Maccabi Tel Aviv’s 1977 European Championship victory. Set against the backdrop of the Yom Kippur War, the Munich Olympics massacre, and the Cold War, the film tells the against-all-odds story of an Israeli basketball team that defeated some of Europe’s greatest powers, including the Soviet Union’s CSKA Moscow, and features interviews with basketball legends Bill Walton and former NBA Commissioner David Stern. Registrants receive a dedicated link to watch the film during the three days preceding the conversation.
