Modern Jewish Poets: Getting Between the Lines
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning presents a two-session experience with Rabbi Neil Fleischmann devoted to reading powerful poetry together, slowing down to discover just how much can be hidden within a few carefully chosen words. The readings draw on a wide-ranging collection of modern Jewish poets, including Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, Yehuda Amichai, Zelda Mishkovsky, Samuel Adelman, David Ebner, Philip Schultz, Menachem Froman, and Harvey Shapiro. Rather than search for a single “right” interpretation, participants will linger over language and discover what can happen when a group of curious readers encounters a powerful poem together.
