Menachem Kipnis: Yiddish Folklore and Photographs from Interwar Poland
Hosted By: YIVO
The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research presents a discussion of a new volume on Menachem Kipnis, the early twentieth-century ethnomusicologist, folklorist and photographer. The book brings together his humorous Chelm stories from the Warsaw Yiddish press and his photographs of Jewish life in Eastern Europe published in the Forverts. The program explores how these images and texts connected Jewish communities in Poland and the United States during the interwar years.
