Melton & The Braid: L’Chaim America!
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education, in partnership with The Braid, presents “L’Chaim America!”, a professionally acted production of true stories of gratitude and possibility in American Jewish life, marking America’s 250th birthday. The collection features a Black Jewish storyteller recounting how Ashkenazi activists helped elect LA’s first Black mayor, a writer reflecting on Native American and Jewish heritages, an Iranian refugee family’s Thanksgiving, hidden Jews in Wyoming’s cowboy country, and a Salvadoran immigrant reclaiming his Judaism. On a separate date, American Jewish history expert Dr. Joellyn Zollman will lead an interactive conversation exploring the broader historical and communal themes raised by the stories.
