‘Max’s War — The Story of a Ritchie Boy’
Hosted By: Sousa Mendes Foundation
“Max’s War” tells the story of a Jewish teen, Max Steiner, who flees Nazi persecution in Europe, eventually enlisting in the U.S. Army after learning of his parents’ murder. Trained in counterintelligence at Camp Ritchie, Max carries out dangerous OSS missions during World War II, including interrogating German POWs after D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. This suspenseful narrative is a tribute by author Libby Fischer Hellmann to her late father-in-law.
