Lamentation and Loss: Then and Now
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education presents a two-part exploration with Steven Chervin of Eikhah, the Book of Lamentations, one of Judaism’s most powerful responses to loss, grief, and national tragedy, as Tisha b’Av approaches. The sessions trace how Lamentations has served as a lens through which Jewish communities have remembered and understood later tragedies from ancient times to the present day, including October 7. Participants will consider what wisdom, strength, and hope this ancient text can offer as we navigate the challenges of our own time.
