Kosher in the Cold: The Jewish Norway Story

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher presents a talk on the history of the Jewish community in Oslo from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. The program examines how Jewish families built cultural, religious, and economic life, the impact of World War II and the Holocaust, and the survival of an Oslo synagogue during the war. Drawing on personal family history, documents, and landmarks, the session highlights themes of resilience and continuity in Oslo and Norway.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
