Klezmer and Other Displaced Musics in America
Hosted By: YIVO
The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research presents a lecture by scholar and performer Walter Zev Feldman on the largely hidden roots of the klezmer revival in American cities during the 1960s. Drawing on his memoir “From the Bronx to the Bosphorus,” he reflects on learning from Greek immigrant musicians and from klezmer master Dave Tarras. Feldman discusses how these influences helped spark the resurgence of klezmer music in the United States.
