Hosted By: YIVO
The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research presents a performance of music from the 1912 operetta “Khantshe in Amerike,” with music by Joseph Rumshinsky. The musical comedy follows an independent young woman who disguises herself as a man and becomes a chauffeur, touching on themes of love, gender and women’s suffrage. Reconstructed from archival materials at YIVO, the operetta will be performed by students of the Bard Conservatory Vocal Arts Program.
