SUMMARY:Biblical Hebrew Level 3 - Summer 2026
DESCRIPTION:Biblical Hebrew Level 3 \n6 Mondays from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET\nJune 29 – Aug. 3 \nAll classes will be recorded and sent to registrants. \nWant to truly understand those Jewish prayers and other religious texts that you’re reading in translation? Then you need to study Biblical Hebrew! \n \nBiblical Hebrew differs from modern Hebrew\, which is spoken in contemporary Israel\, in small but important ways. \nThis six-week course picks up where our Hebrew Level 2 course left off and will teach more verbs\, along with their past tense conjugations; personal pronouns; new vocabulary; words used to talk about Jewish and Israeli holidays; and more — all with the aim of leaving you with the ability to start reading and understanding simple Hebrew sentences in the Bible. \nIf you want to go on to learn modern Hebrew\, you will also have learned the perfect foundation. \nStudents should know the Hebrew alphabet and a basic understanding of Hebrew verb and sentence structure at the start of this course. If you have questions about whether or not this course is the right fit for your knowledge level\, email community@myjewishlearning.com.

SUMMARY:The Rock and the Hard Place: Moses\, Loss\, and Leadership
DESCRIPTION:The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education presents a one-hour class with Rabbi Marianne Novak exploring the emotional world surrounding one of the Torah’s most troubling moments\, when Moses loses control in an act of disobedience that seems sudden\, shocking\, and devastating in its consequences. The session pays special attention to the recent death of Miriam — Moses’s sister\, confidante\, and lifelong companion — and considers how loss\, frustration\, exhaustion\, and the relentless demands of leadership shape his actions in the wilderness. Together\, participants will revisit this difficult story and uncover what it can teach us about anger\, mourning\, and the moments when even the greatest leaders reach a breaking point.

SUMMARY:Seventy One Faces of Torah?
DESCRIPTION:The London School of Jewish Studies explores the long history of biblical interpretation and the enduring question of how many meanings a single text can hold. Tracing debates between advocates of multiple interpretive approaches and defenders of a single “correct” reading\, the session examines the tension between creativity and constraint in Torah study. Participants will consider what is at stake in living with multiple interpretations and whether this plurality is a strength\, a challenge\, or both.
