SUMMARY:Jewish Settlement in North America and the Importance of Mobility
DESCRIPTION:The Community Scholar Program presents a four-part series tracing more than 250 years of American Jewish life\, shaped by mobility\, reinvention\, and opportunity. The sessions move from early Sephardic and Ashkenazic communities in colonial port cities\, through immigration\, expansion\, and upheaval in the 19th and early 20th centuries\, to postwar suburbanization and the rise of Sunbelt Jewish centers. Together\, the series examines how patterns of movement and settlement have continually reshaped American Jewish identity and community.

SUMMARY:Learn the Hebrew Alphabet - January 2026

Over the course of five weeks\, you’ll receive live instruction; the recordings of each class that you can watch again to reinforce lessons; and beginner level homework exercises. Class materials won’t expire\, and you’ll connect with a group of fellow students who are learning at the same pace. \n5 Mondays from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET\, Jan. 5 – Feb. 9\n(No class during MLK Day)

SUMMARY:Mystical Hebrew Letters; Channels in the Tree of Life — Free Sample Kabbalah Class
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Kabbalah Experience\, this session explores how early Kabbalah focused on the Hebrew letters and language as the code underlying creation. The beauty of the letters emerges through their meaning\, shape\, name\, and numerical value. The class also examines how the letters function as containers for the energies of time\, including the months of the year and the 12 spiritual senses of the soul described in “Sefer Yetzirah.”

SUMMARY:The Mind of Jonathan Sacks: Faith\, Science and the Search for Meaning
DESCRIPTION:How do faith and science shape our understanding of what it means to be human? And how does one search for meaning in an age dominated by science?\nJonathan Sacks\, the late rabbi and internationally beloved philosopher\, explored these questions in his 2011 book “The Great Partnership\,” arguing that faith and science illuminate and complement each other. \nNow you can dive into the book’s ideas — and into the mind of Jonathan Sacks — with a help of a scholar teacher. \nOver the course of six online sessions\, you’ll engage with questions that lie at the heart of human identity and purpose\, and you’ll learn about the ways Judaism embraces the role of science in the unfolding drama of human life. \n6 Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET Jan. 7 – Feb. 11
