Jewish Tour of the Balkans
Hosted By: Qesher
Qesher presents a virtual tour exploring the Jewish history and culture of the Balkan peninsula. The program traces the Romaniote, Ashkenazi, and especially Sephardic communities that shaped Jewish life in cities such as Salonica, Sarajevo, Belgrade, and Sofia. Participants will learn about proto-Zionism’s Sephardic roots, the Neo-Moorish architectural style, and a unique Jewish holiday created by Ottoman Sephardim in 1892.
