Jewish Songs and Dances for Piano: Joseph Achron’s ‘Children’s Suite’

Hosted By: YIVO

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research presents a YouTube premiere performance by Ryan MacEvoy McCullough of Joseph Achron’s “Children’s Suite” (1923), a collection of twenty character pieces for piano depicting the world of children. Achron, a composer and virtuoso violinist born in the Russian Empire in 1886 and later settled in Los Angeles, was called “one of the most underestimated of modern composers” by Arnold Schoenberg. The Sidney Krum Young Artists Concert Series is made possible by a generous gift from the Estate of Sidney Krum.
