JAHM Jewish Brighton Beach Walking Tour: From Luxury Resort to Little Odessa

Hosted By: The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy (LESJC)

The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy presents a Jewish American Heritage Month tour of Brighton Beach, tracing its history from glamorous seaside resort to the vibrant neighborhood known as “Little Odessa by the Sea.” The walk passes historic synagogues, Art Deco homes, and Brighton Beach Avenue while examining the waves of Jewish immigrants who shaped the area, including early Jewish families, Holocaust survivors, and Soviet Jews who arrived beginning in the 1970s. The tour highlights how each group contributed to the neighborhood’s distinct character.
