Intro to Mah Jongg Spring 2026

Hosted By: Kveller

Master Mah Jongg: A Beginner’s Intro to the Beloved Game

4 Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. ET
May 13 – June 3

All classes will be recorded and sent to registrants.

Ready to jump in and learn the game that American Jews have loved for decades? Good — because it’s not just your bubbe’s game anymore!

Learn the basics of mah jongg from two of the best teachers in the country: Dara Collins and Donna Kassman, the founders of Modern Mahjong, who have taught beginners and advanced players for years.

After these four hour-long online sessions, you’ll have a solid foundational knowledge of the game. You can review recordings of the lessons for a month after the final class session ends, too, to sharpen your skills.

So pull up a chair, bring all of your questions (and your friends), and let’s learn how to play mah jongg this summer!

Although your teachers recommend investing in a mah jongg tile set, you do not need one for this course. You can learn with paper cutouts to start with.

Whether you grew up observing Shabbat every Friday night, or had your first taste of matzah ball soup when you married into a Jewish family, there’s no one way to parent Jewish kids. Kveller is here to give you ideas you can run with–ideas for first-time parents, interfaith parents, queer parents, adoptive parents, and everything in between–with the hopes that you can find information and inspiration that is right for your family.
