In-Between Notes: Geography, Culture, and the Shaping of Israeli Music

Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")

The Community Scholar Program presents a session exploring what defines Israeli music and whether a distinctly local sound has emerged from the country’s geography, history, and cultural blending. The program examines how Arabic and Middle Eastern aesthetics have shaped classical music as well as Israeli rock and pop, creating a rich dialogue between East and West. This one-hour session is offered in memory of CSP patron Bernard “Barney” Gilmore (z”l).
