How the Shema Took the Prize

Hosted By: The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University

How did the Shema prayer evolve from a collection of verses in the Torah to becoming a daily practice and a declaration of faith for Jews throughout history? Participants in this class will follow the Shema’s journey and explore the prayer through learning how to navigate the Talmud.

This class is part of a series exploring the Talmud as the bridge between the Hebrew Bible and Judaism as we know it today. The class takes place on four Wednesdays, beginning October 13 and ending November 3. There is no registration available after the first class.
